Travertine Beige is a warm mid-tone with depth, not a pale cream. On beige sateen bed linen, light and shade therefore show clearly: the edges of the folds catch the light, while the hollows keep the colour. Travertine Beige is one of the colours of our Classico sateen collection. The set consists of a duvet cover and pillowcase; a fitted sheet and a flat sheet can be added.<\/p>\n
Across the large surface of the bed, this tone works as a colour rather than a way of brightening the room. It is named after the warm limestone that has been used for building in Italy since antiquity. It suits mid-toned and darker woods better than a pale beige does \u2013 oak as well as walnut and smoked oak. Against white and off-white walls it forms a warm surface; with muted wall colours in sand or clay it stays understated. Brass and bronze pick up its warm undertone, while chrome works against it. In the evening, under artificial light, the tone becomes deeper and warmer without turning yellowish.<\/p>\n
Sateen lies smooth and soft against the skin and has a quiet sheen; anyone who prefers a matt, dry surface is better served by percale. Travertine makes sense when the bed should be a warm base without becoming an accent; a bed meant to recede into the room calls for Pure White. Among the sand and beige tones in our range, Travertine sits in the middle: darker than Cream Light Beige from the percale collection, warmer and less grey than Taupe Greige in the same sateen.<\/p>\n
Satin is a weave, not a fibre. Woven from cotton, it is called sateen. In a satin weave, the warp thread passes over several weft threads before it interlaces again. This leaves more yarn lying on the surface, which gives the smooth face its fine sheen and soft drape.
\nThe yarn is spun from combed American Pima cotton. Pima is a long-staple cotton. Its longer fibres can be spun into a finer, more even yarn, with fewer fibre ends standing out from the surface. Combing also removes short fibres. In the trade, sateen made from this kind of cotton is usually sold as \u2018Mako satin\u2019. Mako is the Egyptian variety of the same cotton species; our fibre is grown in the USA. For this fabric: 320 threads per square inch (320 TC), 120 g\/m\u00b2, woven in Northern Italy. The duvet cover comes in 31 sizes, from 90x120 cm to 285x250 cm, and the pillowcase in 26 pillow sizes, from 30x50 cm to 40x145 cm, plus a cover for the 15x40 cm neck roll. You choose the two sizes independently. If your size is not listed, we sew it to your measurements \u2013 at no extra charge, on request by email or WhatsApp.<\/p>\n
Each set is cut and sewn after your order is placed. Because we make to order, we do not keep finished bed linen in stock \u2013 you receive not a ready-made piece but a set made for your order. The zips on the duvet cover and pillowcase are of German manufacture and have metal sliders. They are concealed and colour-matched to the fabric.<\/p>\n
