The duvet cover is the largest visible surface of a made bed \u2013 and so the surface where Celadon shifts the most. A green sateen duvet cover in this shade is not equally green everywhere: where light falls on the edges of the folds, it tends towards silver-grey, while in the hollows the green holds. Celadon Green is one of the colours of our Classico sateen collection.<\/p>\n
The larger the surface, the wider the range between the two: a cover pulled smooth shows the shade at its most even, while a turned-back one shifts between green and grey. The shade itself is close to the colour of a eucalyptus leaf \u2013 grey-green, dusty, with no freshness to it \u2013 and it needs a neutral setting to work: with white walls and pale woods it stays calm; against a green wall it disappears. In rooms with little daylight it reads as almost grey; in bright rooms the green returns. Of our greens, it is the most muted; the greens in our percale collection are fresher and cooler.<\/p>\n
Satin is a weave, not a fibre. Woven from cotton, it is called sateen. In a satin weave, the warp thread passes over several weft threads before it interlaces again. This leaves more yarn lying on the surface, which gives the smooth face its fine sheen and soft drape. That is what allows such a muted shade to shift at all.
\nThe yarn is spun from combed American Pima cotton. Pima is a long-staple cotton. Its longer fibres can be spun into a finer, more even yarn, with fewer fibre ends standing out from the surface. Combing also removes short fibres. In the trade, sateen made from this kind of cotton is usually sold as \u2018Mako satin\u2019. Mako is the Egyptian variety of the same cotton species; our fibre is grown in the USA. For this cover: 320 threads per square inch (320 TC), 120 g\/m\u00b2, woven in Northern Italy. We sew the duvet cover after your order is placed. The zip is of German manufacture and has a metal slider. It is concealed and colour-matched to the fabric, so the cover closes without a visible row of buttons.<\/p>\n
