Solid-colour cotton sateen bedding set in Lavender
The fabric is dyed through and has no pattern: in this bed linen, Lavender covers the whole surface rather than forming a motif. The tone is light and cool, with a hint of blue. Lavender is one of the colours of our Classico sateen collection. The set consists of a duvet cover and pillowcase; a fitted sheet and a flat sheet can be added.
Lavender in the bedroom, and how the tone responds to light
In a room, a lavender tone this pale looks like a tint rather than a colour: it sits on the border between a cool blue and a light violet, and from two metres away it is hard to name precisely. With pale woods and white walls it looks calm; against dark wood, the contrast makes the bed stand out, and nickel and chrome suit its cool character. How much colour is visible depends on the light: in daylight, lavender stays lavender; in warm evening light, the tone turns a pale greyish pink. The reason lies in the tone itself – almost all of its colour comes from its blue component, and warm lamplight weakens exactly that part. This is true of every pale tone in this family and is not specific to this fabric.
Who lavender sateen is for
Sateen lies smooth and soft against the skin and has a quiet sheen; anyone who prefers a matt, dry surface is better served by percale. This tone suits a bed that should have some colour, but not a strong one – and a room with good daylight. With sheets in Pure White everything stays light; with Porcelain Blue the combination keeps to the same cool family, and with Travertine Beige it becomes a deliberate contrast of warm and cool.
Fibre, weave and surface
Satin is a weave, not a fibre. Woven from cotton, it is called sateen. In a satin weave, the warp thread passes over several weft threads before it interlaces again. This leaves more yarn lying on the surface, which gives the smooth face its fine sheen and soft drape.
The yarn is spun from combed American Pima cotton. Pima is a long-staple cotton. Its longer fibres can be spun into a finer, more even yarn, with fewer fibre ends standing out from the surface. Combing also removes short fibres. In the trade, sateen made from this kind of cotton is usually sold as ‘Mako satin’. Mako is the Egyptian variety of the same cotton species; our fibre is grown in the USA. For this fabric: 320 threads per square inch (320 TC), 120 g/m², woven in Northern Italy. Sizes and made to measure
The duvet cover comes in 31 sizes, from 90×120 cm to 285×250 cm, and the pillowcase in 26 pillow sizes, from 30×50 cm to 40×145 cm, plus a cover for the 15×40 cm neck roll. You choose the two sizes independently. If your size is not listed, we sew it to your measurements – at no extra charge, on request by email or WhatsApp.
Made in the atelier
Each set is cut and sewn after your order is placed. Because we make to order, we do not keep finished bed linen in stock – you receive not a ready-made piece but a set made for your order. The zips on the duvet cover and pillowcase are of German manufacture and have metal sliders. They are concealed and colour-matched to the fabric.
Care and certification
The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. Wash Lavender inside out at 40 °C.
