The duvet cover is the largest visible surface of a made bed. In Pure White, it is mainly the surface of the sateen that you see: the fine sheen comes from the satin weave. Pure White is one of the colours of our Classico sateen collection.
Against dark wood or a coloured wall, the white cover forms a clear, bright surface. Next to pale oak, linen and muted wall colours, it remains understated. In rooms with little daylight, the smooth surface reflects the light that falls on it. If you would like colour in the bedroom, add it with cushions and a throw and keep the cover as a calm base.
Satin is a weave, not a fibre. Woven from cotton, it is called sateen. In a satin weave, the warp thread passes over several weft threads before it interlaces again. This leaves more yarn lying on the surface, which gives the smooth face its fine sheen and soft drape.
The yarn is spun from combed American Pima cotton. Pima is a long-staple cotton. Its longer fibres can be spun into a finer, more even yarn, with fewer fibre ends standing out from the surface. Combing also removes short fibres. In the trade, sateen made from this kind of cotton is usually sold as ‘Mako satin’. Mako is the Egyptian variety of the same cotton species; our fibre is grown in the USA. For this cover: 320 threads per square inch (320 TC), 120 g/m², woven in Northern Italy. You can choose from 31 sizes, ranging from 90×120 cm for a child’s bed to 285×250 cm. If your size is not among them, we sew the cover to your measurements – at no extra charge, on request by email or WhatsApp.
We sew the duvet cover after your order is placed. The zip is of German manufacture and has a metal slider. It is concealed and colour-matched to the fabric, so the cover closes without a visible row of buttons.
The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. Wash Pure White inside out at 60 °C.
