Cotton sateen duvet cover in Travertine Beige

The duvet cover is the largest visible surface of a made bed, so it is where a mid-tone shows most clearly. The satin weave means that a beige duvet cover does not look uniform: the edges of the folds catch more light than the hollows, and the surface gains depth. Travertine Beige is one of the colours of our Classico sateen collection.

Travertine across the bed

Seen across the full width of the bed, Travertine is a warm mid-tone with depth, not a pale cream: the colour gives the surface weight rather than lightening it. The larger the surface, the greater the contrast between light edges and dark hollows: a cover drawn smooth looks calm and even; one turned back looks sculpted. Against white walls and next to oak, walnut or smoked oak, the tone forms a warm surface; with sand or clay wall colours it stays understated, and next to cool grey its warm undertone can look reddish. A white or off-white sheet underneath brings out the warm tone without introducing a second colour. Fibre, weave and drape

Satin is a weave, not a fibre. Woven from cotton, it is called sateen. In a satin weave, the warp thread passes over several weft threads before it interlaces again. This leaves more yarn lying on the surface, which gives the smooth face its fine sheen and soft drape – the basis for the play of light and shade across a large surface.
The yarn is spun from combed American Pima cotton. Pima is a long-staple cotton. Its longer fibres can be spun into a finer, more even yarn, with fewer fibre ends standing out from the surface. Combing also removes short fibres. In the trade, sateen made from this kind of cotton is usually sold as ‘Mako satin’. Mako is the Egyptian variety of the same cotton species; our fibre is grown in the USA. For this cover: 320 threads per square inch (320 TC), 120 g/m², woven in Northern Italy. Sizes and made to measure

You can choose from 31 sizes, ranging from 90×120 cm for a child’s bed to 285×250 cm. If your size is not among them, we sew the cover to your measurements – at no extra charge, on request by email or WhatsApp.

Zip and atelier

We sew the duvet cover after your order is placed. The zip is of German manufacture and has a metal slider. It is concealed and colour-matched to the fabric, so the cover closes without a visible row of buttons.

Care and certification

The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. Wash Travertine Beige inside out at 40 °C.
