Cotton sateen bedding set in Pure White
In Pure White, it is mainly the surface of the sateen that you see: the fine sheen comes from the satin weave. Pure White is one of the colours of our Classico sateen collection. The set consists of a duvet cover and pillowcase; a fitted sheet and a flat sheet in the same fabric can be added.
Pure White in the bedroom
Against dark wood or a coloured wall, Pure White forms a clear, bright surface. Next to pale oak, linen and muted wall colours, the combination remains understated. In rooms with little daylight, the smooth sateen surface reflects the light that falls on it rather than absorbing it. Colour can be added with cushions, a throw or a bedspread – and swapped without replacing the bed linen.
Who white sateen is for
Sateen lies smooth and soft against the skin and has a quiet sheen; anyone who prefers a matt, dry surface is better served by percale. White makes sense when the bed should be a calm surface rather than a colour accent, or when washing at 60 °C matters – the coloured fabrics in the collection are washed at 40 °C.
Fibre, weave and surface
Satin is a weave, not a fibre. Woven from cotton, it is called sateen. In a satin weave, the warp thread passes over several weft threads before it interlaces again. This leaves more yarn lying on the surface, which gives the smooth face its fine sheen and soft drape.
The yarn is spun from combed American Pima cotton. Pima is a long-staple cotton. Its longer fibres can be spun into a finer, more even yarn, with fewer fibre ends standing out from the surface. Combing also removes short fibres.
In the trade, sateen made from this kind of cotton is usually sold as ‘Mako satin’. Mako is the Egyptian variety of the same cotton species; our fibre is grown in the USA. For this fabric: 320 threads per square inch (320 TC), 120 g/m², woven in Northern Italy. The weave is described in more detail on our sateen bed linen page.
Sizes and made to measure
The duvet cover comes in 31 sizes, from 90×120 cm to 285×250 cm, and the pillowcase in 26 pillow sizes, from 30×50 cm to 40×145 cm, plus a cover for the 15×40 cm neck roll. You choose the two sizes independently. If your size is not listed, we sew it to your measurements – at no extra charge, on request by email or WhatsApp.
Made in the atelier
Each set is cut and sewn after your order is placed. Because we make to order, we do not keep finished bed linen in stock – you receive not a ready-made piece but a set made for your order. The zips on the duvet cover and pillowcase are of German manufacture and have metal sliders. They are concealed and colour-matched to the fabric.
Care and certification
The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. Wash Pure White inside out at 60 °C.
